THE LAST OF THE LARSSON BLURBS?
A copy of The Quarry by Johan Theorin struggled through my letterbox today, and I could not help noticing the blurbs.
'Winner of the International Crime Novel 2010 for The Darkest Room' and a new variation on a theme of Stieg Larsson which suggests that someone at the Observer might read the Friendfeed Crime and Mystery Forum.
'If you like Stieg Larsson, try a much better Swedish writer.'

Does this mark the end of the Stieg Larsson blurb phenomena? I wonder.

Norman - I really hope you enjoy The Quarry, and I will eagerly look forward to what you have to say about it. As for that blurb? *sigh* That's all. Just *sigh*

I don't know. I just don't know how/if Stieg Larsson will ever leave us, in bookstores at least.
Question: I purchased the first in Christopher Fowler Bryant/Mays' series. Any familiarity with it? I hope it's quirky and witty.
Kathy, I do have a later Bryant & May series on my TBR shelf, and have heard they are funny. A pleasant change from some of the stuff I have read lately. I hope you enjoy yours.

A bit of information on the stil-existing Stieg Larsson comparisons: In today's New York Times Book Review, there are four ads in color, on four pages, advertising Lars Kepler's The Hypnotist. The headline on all is: "Life after Stieg: Who is Sweden's favorite thriller writer"? (three other ads have a similar headline question.)
There are boxes for Lackberg, Mankell, Nesbo and Kepler with the Kepler's box checked off.
Several reviewers are quoted. One quote says, "Stieg Larsson has a good feel for characters, but it's his fellow Swede Kepler ... who has a direct line to a very dark place in the human soul in The Hypnotist."
So the Larsson comparisons keep coming in.
Is this the end of the Stieg Larsson blurbs? Maybe not.
