EUROCRIME REVIEW: STETTIN STATION

You can read my review of Stettin Station by David Downing at Euro Crime.
I seem to be reading a large number of Second World War era books lately, but then there are a lot being written. Stettin Station is a fine addition to the wartime spy genre with its frightening evocation of life in Nazi Berlin, and the reminder that not all Germans supported that brutal regime.

Thanks for this review, Norman. It sounds as though Downing has done an excellent job of weaving real historical events into this thriller, and I always find that fascinating. World War II was such a cataclysmic event that it's not surprising there's a lot of fiction out there with that war as a backdrop.

You are right on that Margot, but the danger is that with so many books truth and fiction get mixed up. Unfortunately the truth was a lot worse than many fiction authors portray, although not David Downing and Philip Kerr.
